Most Tottenham fans are starting to give up on signings this summer. The club are following the same pattern that they did last season, leaving deals very late in the window. Last summer the club made five signings, although they all came late, giving the fans hope they could get the deal for Mateo Kovacic done this summer, as is rumoured in Marca.
[Marca] understands long-term Tottenham Hotspur target Mateo Kovacic has informed Real Madrid of his desire to leave the club with the desire to play regular first-team football.

Mauricio Pochettino is a long-term admirer of Kovacic and the classy midfield maestro has told new Real Madrid boss, Julien Lopetegui that he wants to leave The Bernabeu this summer. The World Cup finalist has spent three years at the club since he made his move from Inter Milan, back when he was one of the brightest prospects in Europe. Now though, he could be set to make another switch to North London.
The Croatian midfielder would fit in perfectly under Pochettino. The midfielder could be the answer to both Croatia’s and Tottenham’s ageing midfield issues. At Spurs, Mousa Dembele looks to be on his way out whilst for his national side, Luka Modric has likely played his final World Cup match. The transfer window is always a tough time for Spurs fans as the fans watch on to see other around them bringing in players whilst they continue to be linked with the likes of Kovacic without a bit being lodged.
