Both Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United have endured fairly miserable transfer windows so far this summer with not a single permanent signing to note at either club, but a recent report suggests that a big-money transfer could set off a domino effect of summer deals.

According to The Daily Mirror, Manchester United are set to renew their interest in Ivan Perisic this summer and attempt to complete a deal worth £60 million. The Croatia international was one of the stars of the World Cup in an inside-left position for the underdog contenders, and he proved his quality by scoring a vital equaliser against England before cannoning home another emphatic equaliser against France in the final of the competition.

On the back of a season in which the powerful attacking player notched 11 goals and provided 11 assists from 37 Serie A appearances, his form on the international stage served to further enhance his already glowing reputation.

However, Jose Mourinho already has Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford to chose from in that position, so clearly something has to budge if Perisic eventually swaps Milan for Manchester.

And the big-money deal would certainly set off a chain reaction of events considering the depth of options the Red Devils already have in that position.

With that in mind, here's how the Perisic deal could influence the transfer activity of both Mauricio Pochettino and Marcelo Bielsa...

Rumours linking Anthony Martial with a move to Tottenham Hotspur have existed since the beginning of the window, but as of yet no official offer has been submitted for his services.

Considering Spurs are supposedly looking for a versatile player who can operate at centre-forward and in other attacking roles, their interest is certainly well placed.

However, agreeing a deal of this magnitude with a Premier League rival is certainly not an easy task to undertake, so it may take the arrival of a new talent to convince United to sell the French prodigy this summer.

Tottenham fans are absolutely desperate for this deal to go through before the end of the window, and Perisic's arrival at Old Trafford might just be the green light they have been waiting for.

Martial entering the scene at Tottenham Hotspur should be enough to force both Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente out of the exit door after failing to produce the goods as Harry Kane's understudy.

Although Leeds United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Matej Vydra, Marcelo Bielsa should not hesitate to add another significant layer of quality to his options at centre-forward by signing Llorente on a season-long loan deal.

The Spaniard (valued at £6.3 million by Transfermarkt) would be a perfect fit for the Championship: he is physically strong, excellent in the air and a natural finisher.

Considering Leeds desperately lacked firepower last season, Bielsa would be foolish not to use his links with Pochettino to secure the acquisition of a top striker following the domino chain of events instigated by Perisic.
