So according to the papers the latest front man to be linked with a move to White Hart Lane is 21 year old Brazilian Leandro Damio.
Spurs are just one of a long list that includes the like of Arsenal, Man United and Barcelona who will try to persuade the Internacional No.9 to vacate his home land and take up a new challenge playing amongst the world’s best.
The danger man has struck 33 times in 57 appearances for the Brazilians with an impressive 16 goals to his name during this season’s Gaucho state championship. His form also earned him his first cap for his country, which ironically took place in North London.
Tottenham certainly have an advantage in the battle to sign him, as in 2009 they struck up a strategy partnership with the South American club in a bid to work together to develop up and coming talent.
Plus Sandro, who was also bought from Internacional is a big fan of the 6ft 1” striker and a close friend. He has admitted he would be a great addition to the side and would do well in English football.
Damio is rated around £12 million, but could certainly be seen a risk to bring him in as the man to solve the problems up top for Spurs. The pace of the game and style of play is completely different over here. He can certainly find the back of the net, but that doesn’t mean he can do it at the top level.
If there is any truth in the amount of clubs interested in the striker, I’m sure it won’t be long before we get to see if he can make his mark upon footballs biggest stage.
