Spurs have simply got to start utilising this central midfielder a lot more

Spurs got their second win of the season this weekend as Harry Kane finally broke his August goal duck to lead the Whites to a 3-1 win over Fulham.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men did nothing in the summer transfer window, and that decision has been met with some criticism in some quarters, with many believing the club have missed a trick in terms of not adding to squad already full of quality.

Despite the win at the weekend, Spurs needed an injection off the bench to solve things, and we at the Transfer Tavern think that there is more problems Pochettino could solve in his squad too.

One of these is in the middle of the park, where Eric Dier continues to plod his way through games, and we believe that returning midfielder Harry Winks should be in line to take Dier’s spot in the coming weeks and months.

Winks has far more about him in terms of being a football, and his passing and distribution far outweighs that of Dier.

While Moussa Dembele continues to mess about over his future, there is going to be a spot in the middle of the park, and Winks should be first in line to seize that place and make it his own.

A classy operator who is highly rated inside the club, it would make sense for the fans to start seeing more of Winks as he looks to develop his career and become a regular both club and international level.

Spurs fans, what do you think? Would you have Winks in the team? Let us know in the comments!
