Spurs Leap Frog Arsenal & Chelsea In Race For £15M Serbian Giant

Hopefully this Summer Serbian defender Neven Subotic will move somewhere because much like last year he is shaping up to be one of the most talked about players in the tavern.

The Serbian defender has been chased by numerous clubs over the last 18 months and previously it had been Manchester City and Chelsea that were thought to be favourites for his signature, however now Tottenham and Arsenal have started to show interest and reports today suggest that it is the White Hart Lane side that are leading the race.

The defender has plied his trade exclusively in Germany, beginning his career with Mainz where he played for one season before he moved too current club Borussia Dortmund with whom he is now in his third season.  The 6’4 defender has attracted plaudits from across Europe because of his powerful approach to the game and his dominance in the air.  His impressive performances have also delivered a string of international caps and this has further underlined the players ability.

Our friends at talksport today bring us reports from Germany that state that Harry Redknapp has jumped ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and AC Milan in the battle to sign the player.  They claim that because of long term injuries to both Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King, ‘Arry is keen to sign the 22 year old.

Talksport claim that the figure on the players head is £15million, and it would seem likely that this figure would not put off any of the interested clubs.  Dortmund may be tempted to cash in this Summer, they could do with some money to further strengthen in other areas, and if they manage to hold onto Mario Goetze, the sale of Subotic could bring some money into the club.

He would clearly be a top player in the Premier League, his strength and power would ensure success I would have thought, and I am convinced it is only a matter of time before he is on the move, and I feel that the player would prefer a move to England as opposed to Serie A.

Whatever happens I am sure the race for the player will heat up as the Summer commences, Spurs currently appear to be leading the way, but who knows what could happen between now and the transfer window opening again!
