Reports in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning suggest that Tottenham are set to move for Montpellier’s Moroccan international playmaker Younes Belhanda in the January transfer window.
According to Mail Online, the French star who won the Young Player of the Year award in Ligue 1 last term has attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest sides including Arsenal who have been long-term admirers of the player whom they faced in this year’s Champions League group stages.
However it now seems that Spurs have taken the initiative to ensure they secure their man as they look for a suitable replacement for Luka Modric and better value for money than the seemingly over priced Joao Moutinho.
The Moroccan has netted eight times in his 22 games this term and could represent good value for money for the White Hart Lane outfit with Andre Villas-Boas repeatedly scouting the 22-year-old playmaker as he looks to bring him to the white half of North London.
Newcastle were previously thought to be ready to swoop for the youngster in the summer to add to their swelling Ligue 1 derived ranks but no such move materialised and now Spurs look like favourites to secure the creative man.
