There is news in the London Evening Standard which has put our Tottenham Hotspur fans on red alert here in the Football Transfer Tavern. It has been claimed that the club are willing to sell one of their strikers at the end of the season.
With the debacle of the African Cup of Nations behind him it seems the club are willing to let Emmanuel Adebayor leave in the summer. Not only does Andre Villas-Boas have this lingering in his memory but he also knows that the club need to refresh in the summer and new blood needs to come in.
The club have long been after Leandro Damiao and forward Braga forward Eder has just found himself on their list of targets. It is known within the club that Adebayor will be allowed to leave in the summer and a move to Russia could be on the cards. Not only would this raise a considerable amount of cash in itself but it would also free a huge chunk of wages up for the Lilywhites.
With Champions League football looking like a real possibility for the side this season that would clearly give them a boost when trying to attract top quality players. Not only this but it would give them the edge over another London club who will miss out on the top four, whether that is Chelsea or Arsenal. Should Arsenal actually miss out for the first time since we at the tavern can remember this will seriously affect who they can attract in the summer and Spurs fans would revel in this.
Keeping Gareth Bale is also a top target for Spurs and this is reflected in the calibre of players they are looking to buy – hence moves for 23-year-old Damiao who is also on the radar of Napoli and Portuguese forward Eder who has worked under AVB before.
