The Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are arguing over who will land Leon Goretzka this winter.
The Spurs fans’ argument is that Goretzka will be more attracted to a team who are playing Champions League football, whereas Arsenal fans point to their recent success with German players and that this environment will make Goretzka feel more at ease.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have indeed joined their North London rivals Arsenal in the pursuit of Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.
The 22-year-old is widely tipped to be leaving Schalke with his contract running out at the German club.
Leon Goretzka’s current deal with Schalke is due to expire at the end of this current season, making him likely to be available on the cheap in January.
While Goretzka is a long term target for Arsenal, Spurs have recently started scouting the Germany international, who is thought to be one of the hottest prospects in European football.
But this English duo face heavy competition from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, both of whom appear to be tempting prospects for the youngster.
