Spurs have had yet another slow burning summer in terms of transfers and manager Mauricio Pochettino will surely be looking to snap up one or two players in the coming weeks ahead of the new campaign.

The Argentinian is renowned for not going out and spending massive sums of money on lots of new players, and he has continued that trend this summer, once again appearing to show faith in the players which delivered for him last season and once again secured a top four finish.

However, the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen cannot continue to take all the burden, and we at the Transfer Tavern think a few new additions would make a big difference for the club heading into the new season.

One such player we think would be an excellent signing is German midfielder Julian Draxler, who has not quite lived up to the billing since making a big money move to PSG a few seasons back.

However, the £27m-rated World Cup winner is still a superb talent, and he would offer Spurs another option in the creative midfield role which Eriksen has made his own over the last few years.

Draxler on his day is one of the finest midfielders in Europe, and given the chance to have an extended run in a team already riddled with attacking talent, the 24-year-old could really come into his own.

Put simply, Spurs need new and proven players if they are to continue to compete at the top end of the Premier League, and signing someone of the calibre of Draxler would be quite the addition.
