Spurs have had a quiet transfer window in comparison to many of their Championship rivals and it’s led to some panic among the punters here in the Tavern ahead of the new campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino has chosen not to add much to his squad in terms of new players, while he has sanctioned the £50m sale of Kyle Walker, weakening his defence somewhat. It’s a risky strategy to adopt by the Argentinian, but he will know in his mind there is still plenty of time to add new faces if he does decide he needs reinforcements.
Our landlord here in the Tavern thinks that another good year lies ahead for the London club, but he feels they could well do with adding some extra firepower up front in case Harry Kane gets injured or loses form.
One player he thinks could do a superb job for Spurs is current Celtic striker Moussa Dembele. The impressive young striker was superb for the Bhoys last term before getting injured, playing a key role in the Glasgow clubs unbeaten season.
Dembele would not be the cheapest option, but at 21-years-old represents an investment for the future. His goals to games record in his young career thus far is excellent, and there is little doubting he has the ability to transition to the Premier League.
Given Celtic’s dominance, Dembele could well fancy a new challenge soon, and Spurs would be the ideal sort of destination for the pacey forward.
