With Spurs continuing to build as a force in the Premier League and impressing over the last few seasons, many fans are expecting them to kick on and make a real fist of a title challenge over the coming years with the group of players they have.
Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, they have become one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League, and with Harry Kane spearheading their charge, there’s good reason to assume they could well snatch a title in the not too distant future.
Here in the Tavern though, our landlord thinks the squad needs a few more additions if it’s to seriously challenge, and he thinks one area they need some more additions in is up front, where an injury to Harry Kane would represent disaster for Spurs.
However, one player he thinks could be a relatively good capture and add to the squad is RB Leipzig forward Marcel Sabitzer, who has slowly been building a reputation for himself over in the Bundesliga.
Two goals and three assists this season have made him a key man for his side, and while there’s an argument he could be more prolific, at just 23, there’s plenty of time for him to improve, and a move to Spurs could bring the best out of him in his young career.
Sabitzer can play across the front, but primarily would be suited as a backup number nine to Kane, and should be the sort of player who falls within Spurs’ price range should they decide to add some new faces to the squad come the January window.
Spurs fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
