Chelsea and Spurs are continuing to battle things out in the Premier League this term as they look to seal Champions League qualification and cement their place among Europe’s elite for the next campaign.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has loved having both sets of fans in this season, and there’s been plenty of banter flying about between the two in regards to who has the better team and if one of the clubs can pinch either of the other teams players.
Our landlord thinks it might be distinct possibility, and one player he thinks could be on the move and would certainly improve the Chelsea squad is Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld, who is back from a long term injury and looking to finish the season in impressive fashion.
The big defender is a classy operator on the ball is up there with the world’s best on his day. With Chelsea possessing an ageing back line with the likes of Gary Cahill and David Luiz among the options, signing Alderweireld could well prove to be a masterstroke signing.
The 29-year-old should be coming into the peak of his powers over the coming seasons, and it could be an ideal time for Chelsea to swoop. Classy, hard in the tackle, and a dominating presence, the Belgian would add something the Blues have potentially been missing for the last few seasons and would be a solid addition.
Blues fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
