Spurs’ Supposed £15M Bid Was Just Another ‘Daily Mail’ Tall Tale

It may be well the case that the Daily Mail has lost the plot after running a piece on Christopher Samba making a big money move to White Hart Lane.

The defensive monster has excelled for Blackburn since arriving in January 2007 from Hertha Berlin, costing a measly £400k. Unsurprisingly, he has been constantly linked with transfers to ‘bigger’ clubs for several seasons but has stayed true to the club which launched his career.

Recently, Samba signed a brand new five year deal with Blackburn having been impressed with Venky’s vision for the club. His loyalty so far has been unquestionable. Therefore you can understand his recent reaction to newspapers suggesting he is yearning for a move to Arsenal;

“The declarations about me are totally false – never said that. I’m a Rovers player and will never mention other clubs – it’s disrespectful. Not happy right now”

Samba, via Twitter.

Taking this into account, it becomes incredibly unlikely that the Daily Mail‘s feature of Tottenham being in advanced talks with Blackburn to sign him for £15m has even a shred of truth in it. There is no doubt that he is an excellent player, and with a five year contract, would cost more than the quoted fee to attain. There is also doubts whether Blackburn would even consider selling him, they don’t exactly need the money do they?

Samba moving to Spurs or Arsenal would be a very good step for his career, but the man’s loyalty shines through and a transfer looks improbable given his current situation and price tag.
