Tottenham supporters are enjoying another Saturday in the Football Transfer Tavern when news arrives from talkSPORT that Spurs summer target Marco Borriello looks set to reject interest from the Premier League and will instead sign a deal at Inter Milan.
The Italian striker is not wanted by Roma and after spending last season out on loan at Genoa, where he struck 12 goals in 28 Serie A games, a switch to the San Siro looks in order for the 31-year-old.
Before he made the short term transfer to Genoa last year Andre Villas-Boas considered bringing him to White Hart Lane and he is reported to still be on the Portuguese boss’ transfer radar.
Spurs have so far been unable to land the proven goal-scorer they desire for the new campaign with both David Villa and Gonzalo Higuain joining other clubs while Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke decided to remain at the Midlands side.
Borriello could have been another option that the North London side but now look to miss out on the forward. Villas-Boas is thought to be trying to sign at least two new strikers and bring Champions League football back to White Hart Lane.
The Naples-born forward, who has won seven international caps, has spent his whole career in Italy with 10 different clubs and now appears to favour remaining in Serie A over any possible move to the Premier League with Tottenham.
