Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see their side closing in on a long-term target, who they believe can lead the north London side to glory.
Mauricio Pochettino, who managed Kenyan international Wanyama previously on the south coast, has had his eyes on the midfield enforcer since he took charge at White Hart Lane- but Southampton were previously reluctant to sell.
However, with the Saints enduring a summer of change, which has already seen them lose manager Ronald Koeman to Everton, and Wanyama is likely to leave as he enters the final year of his contract at St Mary’s.
Southampton paid £12.5m for Wanyama in 2013 but will have to accept a loss due to the player’s contract situation, with the fee Spurs set to pay being around the £11m mark– a price our landlord believes is a bargain.
