With the news that Daniel Agger will almost certainly move to Fiorentina, following growing discontent at a lack of first team opportunities, it looks as if Sebastien Frey will head to the Premiership and to White Hart Lane.
In reports that Agger has demanded an extra half a million pounds in wages per year, it looks as if the Florence club will look to offload one of their own big earners. And with Spurs ready to pounce for the Frenchman, this is one of the more intriguing transfers this month.
Frey, a goalkeeper of some pedigree, is currently injured with a serious knee injury, so why are Spurs in the market for him?
It appears only as back-up to Heurelho Gomes, and with Harry Redknapp growing increasingly tired of Gomes’ uncertainty between the sticks, maybe Frey could take over when he’s fit again?
You never know with Harry, especially as the transfer merry-go-round goes into overdrive.
