Spurs To Bid £26M For Sought After Hitman On Barca’s Wanted List

So with Tottenham’s front line firing more blanks than the Territorial Army Harry Redknapp looks to back Giuseppe Rossi to solve his fire-power at the Lane. have this afternoon claimed the number one target to lead the line for spurs is up for sale as Villarreal are set to cash in on the American born Italian International and make a profit of around £19 million.

The trouble is with this rumour, is despite his impressive form in La liga Rossi failed to make a mark in English football and could be seen as a massive risk for the sort of cash that could possibly land the Londoners proven talent in the premiership.

He made only five appearances for Manchester United in two seasons but bagged four goals. Newcastle took the striker on loan at the start of the 2006 campaign were he once again failed to make his mark with 13 appearances, producing only one goal. He spent the latter half of the season with another Loan spell, this time at Parma where he had kick of his career; he scored nine goals in 20 games for the Serie A side.

In 2007 Villarreal saw the potential and the hit-man within bringing Rossi to Spain for around £6.5 million, where his career has took off.  Since signing for the submarino Amarillo, he has repaid their faith providing them with consistent finishing improving every year he has been on their pay-roll.

He has hit the target on 32 occasions in 55 appearances this year leaving him joint third top scorer in La Liga with Villa and Negredo, only Messi and Ronaldo proving more clinical.

Barcelona have also shown their interest and I’m sure many more clubs will? With the likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko, Robbie keane and possible Jermaine Defoe likely to exit the club, Spurs certainly need some reinforcements.
