Having not always managed to deliver, it is fair to say Paul Pogba ruffled a few feathers when he recently spoke to the media and said it might be time to seek out a new challenge.
Undoubtedly, some supporters would have felt let down by those comments as their star man attempts to jump Manchester United’s sinking ship.
However, if anyone should feel let down, it is Pogba, that is according to Stan Collymore. The former Liverpool striker is now urging Ed Woodward to start targeting players such as N’Golo Kante to correct things.
In this latest instalment of our Pundit’s Choice feature, you can take a look at what exactly Collymore has had to say.
“United have also let Pogba down by failing to sign the player or players who’d bring out the best in him,” Collymore wrote in a recent Daily Mirror column. “If he does end up staying, United ought to be trying to sign two players to set him free,” he later added.
“It would be hard to get Kante out of Chelsea or Declan Rice out of West Ham, but that doesn’t mean United shouldn’t try for both. With those two alongside Pogba, United’s midfield would look a lot more like a United midfield should look.”
Yes, in an ideal world, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be partnering Pogba up with a midfielder like Kante. But it is simply not going to happen.
Chelsea have already lost their best player following Eden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid. They would have to be insane to now part ways with another key member of their squad, especially when considering the fact that his contract is not up until 2023 (as per Transfermarkt).
Factor in the west London club’s transfer ban as well and this idea becomes even more of a no-go.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
