The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been revelling in their club’s record-breaking season, and they were delighted to hear that they have broken yet another record in the past 24 hours.
Pep Guardiola’s side managed to break the record for most Premier League points, most wins in a single season and most away points in a single season to name just a few last season, but they can add yet another outstanding record to their collection. According to the Manchester Evening News, a whopping total of 17 City players will be representing their country at the World Cup this summer – the biggest contingent from a single club in the history of the tournament.
The statistic is hugely impressive, but plenty of the City supporters believe their presentation at the Wold Cup could have a negative impact on their pre-season preparations.
With 17 players on international duty, City’s training ground will practically be deserted this summer, and Guardiola’s men will hardly have a moment to rest after a demanding season, and that’s without even considering the various injury problems which are likely to emerge during the tournament.
Man City will have a huge task in attempting to emulate the consistent level of performance they reached during the previous campaign, and the recent report suggests that the World Cup may just pose the greatest threat to their ultimate ambition.
Here’s what the Manchester City fans have had to say in response to their latest record-breaking achievement…
City being City stand by for another record, most injuries from a World Cup ever !!

Good tweet, but it also means our players get a shorter preseason. Disadvantage for next season.
