The Football Transfer Tavern is busy this evening as punters arrive to celebrate the end of another working week and the start of the Premier League weekend.
The main issue of discussion around the bar comes from the latest reports from Sky Sports who suggest that Tottenham and Manchester United target Saido Berahino is expected to pen a new three-and-a-half year contract at West Bromwich Albion ‘within in the next 24 hours’.
The 20-year-old has burst on the scene this season with some fantastic displays for the Baggies.
The England Under-21 international scored a hat-trick on his full debut in the Capital One Cup and really made his mark with the winning goal for Steve Clarke’s side at Old Trafford, something hasn’t been forgotten by Red Devils fans.
There was some surprise when it was revealed that Berahino was paid only £850-a-week at The Hawthorns and then led to speculation he could depart the club for a bargain price. However, Clarke is now positive that Berahino’s future will be played out in the West Midlands.
Speaking on Albion’s official website, he said: “I’m confident Saido will sign his new deal within the next 24 hours.
“He’s been a breath of fresh air in the squad, he’s been a revelation and has made a big contribution to us already.
“When he signs his contract he has a massive part to play for us for the rest of the season.”
