Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to the summer transfer activity, however, they could be in for an anxious few months.
The Telegraph are reporting that the club are still rumoured to be of interest for a potential takeover bid from Amanda Staveley’s Middle-East backed consortium, however, there has been little sign of progress in recent weeks.
The club’s survival in the Premier League is thought to help negotiations move along, but it is feared by many of the locals in the bar that the club’s current owner, Mike Ashley, is asking for too much and putting possible investors off.
The punters fear that the longer the situation remains the same, and an agreement cannot be met, will result in an uncertain summer, that could see Rafa Benitez also decide to depart from St. James’ Park and putting back to square one.
The manager has singled out his desires to the club’s board amid talks about a new deal, however, he will be after certain assurances before he commits his future further, despite admitting he wants to stay.
The Newcastle fans in the Tavern will be looking for the consortium talks to continue over the next few weeks, as they will not want to be left behind in the summer transfer window, whilst they would also like to see Benitez’s future resolved as quickly as possible as well.
