Tottenham, along with Birmingham City, were said to be the other clubs interested in the defender. The player himself has just undergone a 10-day trial with the Gunners. With talks continuing between Arsenal and BSK Borca, the fee for Savic could be around £2.25 million.
Savic, who is 19, is set to return to Serbia on Thursday and continue playing for his current team Borca. According to the defender, before returning to Belgrade, a “pre-contract will be signed on Thursday” before adding that he will be “staying with BSK until May.”
However, he seems sure that the Emirates is where he wants to end up playing next season. He said: “There were offers from Tottenham and Birmingham City, but once a call came from Arsenal, I had no more doubts.”
Savic, who is 6ft 1in, made his breakthrough into the Borca side last season, playing three times, while this season he has played seven times. Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, will be adamant to make sure the deal is eventually tied up after missing out on a chance to sign defender Chris Smalling.
