According to The Sun, Steve Bruce is looking to bring his former goalkeeping coach from Hull City to Aston Villa, setting a divide between the Tigers and Villans fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
The man in question is Gary Walsh, who worked with Bruce for the Tigers as they got promoted to the Premier League last season and has been a goalkeeping coach for ten years for sides like Wigan and Derby County.
The report suggests that Walsh is currently in talks to discuss extending his stay with the Tigers anyway, but Bruce seems keen to bring him to Villa as they look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The former Manchester United defender is yet to lose in charge of the Midlands club, seeing two wins in his first three games, after former manager Roberto Di Matteo was sacked after a 2-0 loss to Preston.
Our resident Hull fans are certainly worried.
With the club looking like they’ve got a relegation battle on their hands they want to keep as many people to help fight their cause as possible but with the prospect of Villa nabbing Walsh, they’re not amused.
In stark contrast, the Villa fans are liking what Bruce is doing already and think this may not be such a bad season after all.
