Liverpool remain unbeaten in the Premier League with only goal difference separating them from Manchester City and Chelsea in the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have made an excellent start to the campaign and will be full of confidence heading into the international break. Despite being four games without a win, Liverpool have navigated an extremely tough run of fixtures without losing ground in the league. Ironically, it’s Liverpool’s defence which has flourished with Liverpool’s attacking trio yet to fire on all cylinders so far.

Klopp will be hoping the international period can help get his attackers back into their groove with a favourable run of fixtures scheduled at the end of the month. It’s vital that Liverpool push on and find their ruthlessness in front of goal or they will fall behind in the title race. The January transfer window presents an excellent opportunity to add firepower to their forward line.

One man Klopp should consider signing is PSV Eindhoven wonderkid – Steven Bergwijn. Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old has developed into a key player for his side after progressing through the youth ranks at rivals Ajax. The youngster enjoyed a sensational season last year, scoring eight goals and registering 11 assists. Bergwijn has continued his hot streak into the new campaign with five goals and four assists to his name already.

Blessed with electric pace, Bergwijn is the perfect man to add depth to Liverpool’s wide areas. His trickery and fantastic dribbling ability make him a nightmare for defenders to deal with – he has averaged 3.3 successful dribbles game this season; more than any other player in the Premier League (WhoScored). Under Klopp’s guidance, Bergwijn could become world-class.

With a reported £17m release clause in his contract, Liverpool should grab a bargain before one of their rivals beat them to the punch.
