The Stoke and Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern were all wondering who was being watched when their scouts were sent to check out a Ligue 2 game.
Scouts from Premier League trio Stoke, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, as well as representatives from Championship side Aston Villa, were all present at last Friday’s league clash between Le Havre and Amiens in the French second tier last week.
According to The Daily Mail, the player on their radar was Amiens midfielder Guessouma Fofana, who played a starring role in their 2-0 win over his former club Le Havre.
Fofana has been attracting attention following his good performances this season and the 24-year-old is reportedly available for about £4m.
The Frenchman, who is also eligible to represent the Mali national team, is a key part of the Amiens team and four English clubs are keen to bring him over.
Stoke, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Aston Villa are all scouting him ahead of a potential move.
According to this report, Le Havre left back Ferland Mendy might also be on their lists.
The 21-year-old is being targeted by the French big clubs, such as Monaco, Bordeaux and Lyon with Le Havre pricing him at around £10m.
