The Stoke City fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports the club have agreed a fee for a promising young player.
According to a report in the Stoke Sentinel, the Premier League side have agreed a fee of £250,000 to bring AFC Wimbledon defender Ryan Sweeney to the club.
The 19-year-old will join the club’s development squad should he pass his medical today.
The youngster has had admirers in the past with both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United interested in the past, and the interest from the duo encouraged the League One side to other the defender a new long term deal with the club.
Sweeney made his debut for the Dons in April 2015 and made 10 first team appearances for the club in last season’s promotion season via the League Two play-off final.
In accepting the bid it appears the hierarchy at the club no longer wish to stand in the way of a move to a bigger club to develop his career further.
Our landlord thinks Stoke will do well this season, and tips them to finish in the top 10 of the table!
