The Stoke fans in the Transfer Tavern are reflecting on yet another successful season and have been delighted after being given further reason to celebrate.
The Stoke Sentinel claims that skipper Ryan Shawcross may be getting a contract extension, despite suffering a back injury this season.
Despite being plagued with injury problems this term, missing 18 of the Potters’ 38 games this term, he is still seen as lynchpin at the Britannia.
Still, it appears as if though the ambitious Staffordshire outfit will remain loyal to their captain and continue to shape their defence around him going forward.
The 28-year old currently has a two-year deal and the possibility of an extension, though fresh terms could see the former Manchester United trainee end his career with the club.
“Ryan (is) starting to show he’s getting back to where he was at”, revealed chief executive Tony Scholes.
“We are not the same team without Ryan in there, so we all hope Ryan has a good pre-season for his sake as well as the club’s, and manages to avoid injury going forward.”
Stoke Fans… Do you think Shawcross should get a contract extension? Or should the club wait till he is playing regular football?
