Here at the Transfer Tavern we love some decent statistics to get dug into, so the latest details revealed by EA Sports are being received wonderfully at the bar.
It’s been revealed that Jack Butland is the goalkeeper with the most saves in the Premier League, becoming the first player to hit 50 this season during the 1-0 victory over Chelsea, with the England international starring for Stoke City.
Not only this, Butland has a strong record with 12 goals conceded in 12 games and a saves-per-goal ratio of 4.17; which can only be bettered by one-man.
That one-man is Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, who’s conceded just nine goals this season and has a league-high saves-per-goal ratio of 4.78; which suggests Arsenal haven’t quite plugged their leaky defence just yet.
For England fans it’s good news, as 22-year-old Butland is showing form to rival number one stopper Joe Hart ahead of a crucial European Championship tournament. By these numbers, we fancy the youngster to get a chance against Spain or France in the coming weeks!
