The Stoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern keep telling us that they want to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
They claim that an out and out goal scorer would aid their charge back up the Premier League table.
But that striker will not be Odion Ighalo, according to The Stoke Sentinel.
According to this report, Mark Hughes has denied the feasibility of them bringing in former Watford hit man Odion Ighalo.
Hughes said: We get linked with lots of names.
“I’m not sure that’s one that’s got much traction, to be perfectly honest.”
Ighalo is currently plying his trade in the Chinese Super League after making a big money move from Watford to Changchun Yatai on deadline day last January.
But after a year away from English football, the 15-cap Nigerian international could be set to return.
A number of clubs, such as West Ham United and Southampton, have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old even if Stoke appear to have pulled out of the race.
Ighalo will be remembered for his first season in the Premier League with Watford where he scored 15 goals in 37 games to fire Watford up the league table.
