Stoke City fans have come into the Football Transfer Tavern today as they prepare for the opening game of the season by welcoming one more player to the club.
That is because according to the Daily Star, the Potters have launched a £5 million bid for Norwich City midfielder Nathan Redmond – and the Potters want an answer immediately.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes has already seen one bid rejected by the East Anglian side this summer but the former Manchester City boss has made Redmond his number one target.
The Welshman has spoken openly about how one more arrival at the Britannia Stadium would complete his jigsaw.
It was thought that the missing piece was Liverpool’s Oussama Assaidi who spent the whole of last season on loan in the Potteries.
But the £7 million asking price and the Moroccan international’s high wage demands mean any proposed deal is now dead in the water – meaning Redmond is the alternative.
Redmond, 20, played in Norwich’s opening Championship game at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday but is likely to be interested in a move to a club closer to his Birmingham roots, not to mention playing in the English top flight once more.
Stoke City fans. Have you seen enough of Redmond to warrant paying £5 million + this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
