More than a few eyebrows have been raised in the Football Transfer Tavern, when sources at the Daily Star claim Stoke City are close to bringing in a new forward from Barcelona.
The publication reckons Mark Hughes is close to agreeing a deal for Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic, that would see the 23-year-old complete a move to the Britannia on a season long loan.
Bojan was once labelled the new Lionel Messi, but his career has stalled at the Nou Camp. He has spent the last three seasons on loan at the likes of Ajax and AC Milan, before being brought by R0ma in 2011 – he has since returned to Barcelona when the club invoked a buy-back-clause in his contract.
Stoke City chairman Peter Coates confirmed the club are in the hunt for the exciting attacker in an interview with the Daily Telegraph. He said: “Mark has met with the player and we’re quietly confident of getting it all completed soon. “Attacking players have been very much the focus for Mark since the end of last season and obviously Bojan would be another very good addition.”
Stoke City fans, Bojan has struggled during his previous loan spells. Is Mark Hughes the right man to get the best out of him? Let us know your thoughts below.
