The Stoke City supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern have been in great voice of late and are full of admiration for the job which boss Mark Hughes is doing at the Britannia Stadium.
The Welsh manager said last week that he would only look for players to come in who would improve the starting eleven, saying that the squad had enough fringe players.
Well, it looks as though one player who could fit Hughes’ billing is Burnley central defender Michael Keane, with a Stoke fan here in the Tavern spotting an article in The Sentinel, which states that the Premier League club have had a bid in the region of £7 million rejected.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the Clarets this season and has attracted interest from several clubs in the top flight of late, with Stoke the latest.
With Sean Dyche’s men chasing promotion back to the Premier League, it is doubtful he will want to lose one of the key cogs in his defensive unit.
A Stoke die-hard is playing a game of cards in the corner with his pal and thinks Keane is exactly the sort of player Hughes should be trying to sign for the club.
