Stoke City man to continue injury recovery abroad

Stoke CityStoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling optimistic about the future of one of their former long-serving players after reading reports about his hopes of returning to full fitness.

According to an article from the Stoke Sentinel, Potter’s player Andy Wilkinson is jetting out to the United States in a bid to step up his recovery from a career-threatening head injury.

The 31-year-old Stoke favourite is jetting off to Orlando and Boston to see specialists for a second time after suffering a horrific head injury against Blackburn Rovers in an FA Cup fixture. The Englishman has not played since the injury and has been rehabilitating at the Britannia after the club offered him a short-term contract to help him on his road to recovery.

Wilkinson has spent an incredible 14 seasons at the club, making 190 appearances for them in total after signing his first professional contract in 2001.

However, despite an injury that could have ended his career, Wilkinson re-iterated his determination to bounce back from the injury and continue his career.

Stoke fans, do you want to see Wilkinson return? Is it too much to ask? Let us know in the comments below!
