Stoke City set to launch £2m bid for striker to fend off English trio

The Stoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to add more fire power to their striker ranks in the January transfer window.

And therefore they will be hoping to win the four club race for a striker who could turn out to be an absolute bargain.

According to The Sun, Stoke City are readying a £2m bid which will trigger the release clause for Groningen forward Mimoun Mahi.

Swansea City, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City are three other clubs who hold an interest in the Morocco international, who has two international caps to his name.

The 23-year-old scored seventeen goals for Groningen last season and is highly rated in the Netherlands, having previously played for Sparta Rotterdam.

The former Holland youth international has spent the last three years at Groningen and is continuing to impress in the Dutch Eredivisie, earning him some admirers in England.

Two Championship sides are also interested in the versatile forward, who can play out wide or through the middle.

Bristol City and Nottingham Forest are ready to rival Stoke and Swansea for Mahi’s signature.

Our landlord believes that, in the current climate, this deal could turn out to be a snip and is worth the risk.
