Stoke City have gone under the radar a bit this season, cementing a mid table finish and not really pulling up any trees in terms of shock results and big wins.
The Potters have done what has been expected of them though in the main under Mark Hughes, and the Stoke fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been relatively content with how things have gone this season at the Bet365 Stadium.
This summer will once again represent a chance for the club to add new names to their squad, and one player our landlord thinks the club could target is Leeds United man Chris Wood, who has been in scintillating form this season at Elland Road.
The big New Zealander is currently valued at £5.1m by website Transfermarkt, and we think his size and presence is well suited to both Stoke and the Premier League. His goals this season have fired the Whites towards the playoff places, and barring a late collapse in the season, he would have been in with a chance of playing in the top flight with Leeds.
With Wood looking to be one of the strikers in demand this summer, Stoke would be wise to act early and try and secure his signature before other clubs come sniffing.
Wood offers power, heights, and more importantly, goals, and we think he would be a superb signing for Stoke City this summer.
