The Sentinel is reporting that Tottenham are ahead of Stoke City in the race to sign youngster Sandro Ramirez. The 20-year-old has been a target for Stoke boss a Mark Hughes for sometime, after impressing the Stoke manager during a game scouting another Barcelona B player.
Newcastle had tried to get the youngster on loan earlier this summer but failed to reach an agreement with Ramirez’s parent club.
News that Tottenham are now interested will disappoint Hughes, who knows that Tottenham’s offer of European football may sway the youngster into a move to White Hart Lane.
Reports suggest that Spurs are ready to meet Barcelona’s terms of a £7.5 million fee along with a buy back clause.
Ramirez has featured on eight occasions for the Barcelona first team, and it looks as though Spurs are ready to pull out all the stops to secure the signing.
The debate between the two sets of fans here at The a Transfer Tavern looks set to continue long into the night.
