Stoke to reopen contract talks with forward

West Bromwich Albion v Stoke City - Barclays Premier LeagueMarc of StokeLoudandProud has just been over to see Stoke City fans playing some darts to let them know that their club plans to reopen contract talks with Jonathan Walters when he returns from international duty.

It is reported that the 31 year old forward is after a three year contract from Stoke City, his current club, but they are only willing to offer him an extra two years.

Walters, who handed in a transfer request before the end of the transfer window, was subject to bids from Norwich and Leicester, however Stoke refused to sell the reliable striker. Despite dropping him from the match day squad for their last game as manager Mark Hughes felt he wasn’t focused.

Norwich and Leicester are both said to be willing to offer Walters the three year contract he is after – hence outlining his desire to try and push through a move.

Walters current contracts runs out at the end of the season and could leave on a free transfer if Stoke are unsuccessful in tying him to a new deal
