Striker appears likely to be at Man City next season despite Guardiola revamp

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been growing increasingly concerned about the future of Sergio Aguero…

Following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus in the winter, many fans in the pub were expecting to see the passing of the torch from Aguero to the Brazilian. Before an injury cruelly hampered his plans, Jesus was taking the Premier League by storm, and looked destined to oust Sergio Aguero out of the Man City first team.

However, it appears as though the Man City brass have no plans to unceremoniously dump Aguero, with the club’s Chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, revealing that Aguero’s future has ‘never been in doubt’. Speaking via an interview with the official Man City website, Mubarak described Aguero’s retention this summer as ‘an absolute must’.

This has certainly relieved the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many supporters worried that the club may look to cash in on the Argentine. Of course, Aguero has always been one of the Premier League’s most prolific forwards, and even this year – where he has arguably been out of form – he has impressed.

Having scored 20 goals in the Premier League this season, our landlord thinks that Aguero has a lot more to give at the Etihad yet. Of course, with Guardiola beginning a revamp at the Etihad this summer, with Bernardo Silva already coming in, Aguero will need to step up – but there is no doubting that he can do that.
