Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were left debating Daniel Sturridge’s ability this morning after BBC Sport reported that the Chelsea forward was due to have a medical at the club this morning.
The 23-year-old England international is set to move to the Anfield club in a £12 million transfer and will be paid £60,000-per-week once he passes his medical although the confirmation of any deal will have to wait until the January transfer window opens up officially in 10 days.
The former Manchester City frontman has only made seven league appearances for the Blues this term and he was last seen in the 2-1 defeat against West Brom back in November before picking up a hamstring injury. He is looking to put his career back on track after a rather disappointing spell at Stamford Bridge as he looks for a way back into Roy Hodgson’s England team.
Brendan Rodgers has been a long-term admirer of the striker and will be delighted to have sorted a deal to bring him to Merseyside when the transfer window opens in the New Year as he seeks to reinforce his relatively weak strike force.
