Drama is not the word here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that Luis Suarez will ask to talk to Arsenal about a transfer.
The forward has been trying to exit Liverpool for some time now and given they are not playing Champions League football next season, and have no chance of winning the title, that is not really a shock. Suarez, for all his faults off the field and lets face it, sometimes on it, is a world class forward and deserves to be playing at the highest level. The player himself now fancies a move to link up with Arsene Wenger at the Emirates and despite seeing a rather naughty £40 million and £1 bid rejected by Liverpool, a move is still on the cards, with Suarez even prepared to demand to talk with the Arsenal board.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is still standing firm on the fact that Suarez will be remaining a Liverpool player and said:
‘For me, it is work as normal,’ said Rodgers. ‘There is no change for me or for him. He just needs to get on with getting himself fit. Until somebody tells me something different, that is what all my concentration will be on. I am not worried about it messing with his head but there will be no games played at Liverpool.
‘Luis is part of the group and he knows the standard you have to meet at this club, on and off the field.’
