Sunderland end interest in Ivorian defender

Allardyce has done it with an unfancied side before Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is desperately trying to put a smile back on the face of the Black Cats followers here in the Transfer Tavern and is busy trying to recruit new signings for the club.

An article has been spotted by our landlord in the Sunderland Echo however, which suggests that the club have ended their pursuit of Lorient defender Lamine Kone.

The Ivory Coast defender had looked set to make the move to the Premier League at one stage, although the report is now suggesting that the move is dead and will not be revived by the club.

Sunderland had previously all but agreed a deal to bring the player to England, before calling off the move to pursue other targets.

One Sunderland supporter is busy playing pool with his mates and thinks the failing of the deal is a good thing and would like to see his club target players with proven experience in the Premier League in order to maintain their Premier League status beyond this season.
