Sunderland eyeing PL outcast with bags of international experience

Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are keen to see new signings made this week and, according to The Guardian, Phil Jagielka could be one of them.

The Black Cats have had another absolutely woeful campaign and David Moyes must be thinking that the job is even harder than expected.

Indeed, the Stadium of Light outfit once again looks set for relegation if it cannot find a way out and so it looks like Moyes is targeting defensive reinforcements to help proceedings out.

Jagielka has had a pretty lonely time on the bench at Everton this season with him showing serious signs of decline.

A move away could help him prolong his career, though, and so signing for Sunderland may not be a bad idea.

The north east side need experience and quality at the back and, despite his age, Jagielka is still able to provide that for sure.

Our landlord reckons the Everton man could prove to be a decent acquisition and with a couple more signings Moyes’ boys might just avoid the drop.
