The Sunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern are having a friendly game of pool and discussing reports that one of their players has been offered to a French side.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Premier League side have offered Marseille the services of striker Steven Fletcher- and Sky Sports stated this afternoon that the player is on his way to talk with the French club.
It is understood that Marseille are open to a move for the 28-year-old as they are looking for someone who will play off leading scorer Michy Batshuayi and they want a permanent move this month. If that’s not possible though, a pre-contractual agreement will be discussed.
There is also reported interest from China and Scottish champions Celtic in the front man who is available at a cut price due to his contract expiring in six months time.
Fletcher failed to hit the heights expected of him following his £12 million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers and not being in the first team plans of manager Sam Allardyce a fresh start in France could well appeal to him.
The Sunderland fans in The Tavern are delighted Fletcher could be on his way out of the club and look forward to see who they can get in should the transfer go through.
