Sunderland secured a well earned point against Manchester United on Sunday and the fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping to see the Black Cats spring another surprise in the transfer window.
According to the Daily Star, the Wearside club have expressed an interest in former Chelsea winger Salomon Kalou.
The Ivory Coast international currently plays for Ligue One giants Lille but has caught the eye of Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool.
Both clubs are keen on strengthening their sides’ attacking prowess as they look to challenge for the league title as well as the Champions League.
However Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is hoping to pull off a surprise by beating both clubs to the signing of the 29-year old former Feyenoord star.
It seems that Kalou could be the big name arrival at the Stadium of Light after the Mackems gave up on their pursuit of Liverpool forward Fabio Borini who had a successful loan spell with the north east club last season.
Sunderland fans. Would Kalou be a good addition to your club or should you stump up the cash needed to lure Borini to the club once and for all? Let us know your thoughts below.
