Sunderland fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been anxious about their movements in the transfer window, with their club yet to put pen to paper with any talent to bolster their squad.
However, the Sunderland Echo reports today that the Black Cats are interested in signing Bordeaux midfielder, Clement Chantome, who is a free agent after rejecting the offer of a new contract at his club.
Chantome enjoyed a nine year spell at French giants Paris Saint German, however only made six appearances in his last two seasons at the club.
The most worrying statistic of the 28-year-olds career is that he has never managed to make more then 30 appearances in a season for his a senior side; he made 28 in 2012-13 for Paris Saint German which was the highest in his career, underlining his squad player status and fitness issues.
It is understood that Everton and Middlesbrough are both monitoring the Frenchman’s situation.
