After the transfer saga that followed Celtic striker Gary Hooper and a possible move to Norwich City around in January we’re all hoping for a much quicker conclusion to any transfer activity this summer.
Today Paul Collins from Mail Online suggests that Sunderland are the latest club interested in signing the 25-year-old forward who is moving into his final year of his current contract at the SPL champions.
Celtic are thought to be looking for around £7 million for the ex-Scunthorpe United striker but given his contract situation they are likely to accept any offers over £4.5 million with Southampton also reportedly interested in a move although the Black Cats can offer Hooper better wages.
New Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio has already made quite an impact at the Stadium of Light as he looks to give the club a new identity with more overseas signings but Hooper could be a one-off given the need for a quality striker at the club.
Former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is also desperate to bring the English-born striker to the Premier League with Hull City and he has made landing Hooper his main transfer priority this summer as he looks to keep his team in the top flight next year.
Celtic are now set to sign Portuguese striker Amido Baldé which will pave the way for Hooper to be sold this summer.
