Metro have Sunderland fans looking slightly happier after their horror weekend and defeat to Southampton, after goalkeeper Vito Mannone claimed he and the team would try and refund the fans for the cost of their tickets and their trip away to the south coast.
As one of our punters notes, it is simply not good enough after having to watch their side fail so badly – and concede a massive EIGHT goals, but we certainly think that the gesture will go some way to making the fans a little bit happier.
The goalkeeper claimed: ‘I will talk to the team to see if it is possible to pay for their tickets and their trip.
‘We should do it because we didn’t put our foot in, we didn’t work hard.
‘We started the game well but after we conceded we threw in the towel and I include myself.’
As our landlord moves over to the pool table, he notes that the Black Cats goalkeeper was at fault for a vast majority of those goals and we certainly think he should be trying to atone for his mistakes!
