Sunderland looking to add experienced midfielder to squad

Kevin NolanSunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern are unsure over reports that the club looking to sign a former Newcastle United midfielder.

Reports on BBC Sport suggest that Sunderland will move to sign Kevin Nolan, should Sam Allardyce take over as manager of the club.

Nolan is no stranger to Allardyce having played under him at both Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United. The midfielder was released by Hammers manager Slaven Bilic earlier this season and has been keeping himself fit by training with League Two side Leyton Orient.

Allardyce rates Nolan highly, with his no nonsense attitude and leadership abilities being just what Sunderland need to spark life into what has been a disappointing campaign to date.

Nolan will be itching to get back playing again and will definitely fight for the cause should the Sunderland move happen.

The Sunderland fans in The Transfer Tavern have mixed views about the move for Nolan, but overall would be happy if he can play a part in securing Premier League survival.
