The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Sam Allardyce has shelved plans to offer Kevin Nolan a contract and prioritise a move for striker.
Nolan has been heavily linked with a move to Sunderland since the arrival of Sam Allardyce but will now have to look elsewhere for a place to continue his career. The midfielder was released from his contract back in September and has been keeping himself fit by training with League Two side Leyton Orient.
It is reported that Allardyce is keen to strengthen his striking options as the club look to fight for survival in the Premier League, and is willing to wait until January to get the right man rather than blow wages on a free agent.
