The Sunderland fans are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening, and are discussing reports linking them with a move for a new striker.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the struggling Premier League side are weighing up a £4 million offer to bring Martin Braithwaite to the club this summer.
Braithwaite currently plays in France for Toulouse and has hit the back of the net on nine occasions so far this season.
The 24-year -ld is a full international for Denmark and Sunderland sent scouts to Hampden Park last week to see him against Scotland, and they were impressed with what he had to offer.
With goals scored being a major problem for Sunderland this season, manager Sam Allardyce is keen for that problem not to be repeated next by acquiring a new striker.
Sunderland will face competition for the striker’s signature, with both West Ham and Crystal Palace also reportedly interested in the player.
The Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted that the club are looking to bring a striker in next season, and hope that they are still a Premier League club after what has been a disappointing campaign for the club.
Our landlord has watched Braithwaite on a number of occasions here in the Transfer Tavern on the flatscreen TV, and feels he is a player who would suit the style of the Premier League!
